Generally, Curcuma essential oil is obtained by hydro/steam distillation. Some farms use dry rhizome and others will use fresh.

Curcuminoids (Curcumin, demethoxycurcumin and bisdemethoxycurcumin are nontoxic polyphenolic that excerpt a full range of biological activities.) Many of phytochemical studies on Curcuma oils discovered sesquiterpenoids and monoterpenoids as the major chemical component.
